Help Our Soldiers Overseas With Requests
One asked for a birthday card for his friend, another for goggles for his K-9, a third for books. The e-mails from our men and women overseas pour into www.booksforsoldiers.com, and the volunteers answer their needs.
Books for Soldiers was set up to provide a clearing house for matching up the many people that want to help and the soldiers off fighting to keep America free.
Many of them have young families and refuse to ask their spouse for luxuries such as books, DVDs, etc. Some have no one to write to, some just need an ear to listen, a chance for a box from the states to remind them that the news is wrong — Americans care about them; we stand behind them.
It is humbling to read a request from a chaplain for any books or letters to be sent to his division and parceled out to the many that receive no mail.
One soldier wrote me that with the water rationing “Baby wipes are a soldier’s best friend.” Another asked for gel pads and fans to keep the horrendous heat at bay for a few hours. Not for him or his division, but for the four dogs assigned to help them search out mine fields.

No matter what political beliefs each American has, we have the freedom to make that choice. These men and women have dedicated their lives to keep that freedom, that choice available to all. Do not turn your back on America’s finest; do not leave them hot, dusty and alone out there.

| I have sent a donation via pay pal and I will get some books ready for them also. Thanks for the timely reminder for our troops that are at war and need to hear from us and that we are all backing them in their fight for Iraq's freedom. |
