A Message I just thought I'd pass along.
The Pope Got it Right the First Time
by J.Vincent Martin
Is a true martyr a child of God who chooses to suffer a horrible earthly death, rather then deny his father’s love? Or, is a martyr just an angry man seeking to satisfy the hatred in his heart, and obtain 27 virgins in the process?
If you chose to believe the latter, then you must also believe that it is God’s will that men murder innocent women and children in his name, to pleasure their, shall we say sex orgran? Then again, one must ask, “What exactly do women receive when they choose this so called martyrdom? Perhaps, 27 hairdressers -24/7, or maybe unlimited free shopping at the Neman Marcus in the after life?
Now, don’t get me wrong, I do believe there is a spiritual entity that offers these type of bargains. But even when he steals God’s holy name on occasion, he sure as hell ain’t God.
Perhaps this belief is more easily understood when one realizes that Islam was created by fear and hatred, rather than love. It was a very simple message, indeed, “Join us, or suffer miserably and die by the sword”. That’s a pretty easier choice for one of little or no faith. “Stay alive or die...hmmm? And...What is it you would have me to believe, again? That God is a cruel tyrant and has appointed you to do the things that he doesn’t have the power to do himself? Why sure!I can live with that.” Then of course, on the more merciful side, there was the "jizya" tax for added encouragement... “Okay, you can live and not be one of us, but you have to pay us an obtainable sum of money each year as a tax. If you can not pay, we’ll just take your young children instead, and sell them into sexual slavery.”
Now really, how can anyone seriously believe that such things are truly God’s will? Is God really so horrible and cruel that he needs to appoint “special men” to force people to worship him?
Unfortunately, Christianity had a few “special men”, too. But there is still quite a difference. You see, Christianity reached the hearts of people though God’s love, not fear. For to become a Christian was quit the opposite, and often meant persecution and a horrible earthly death. For Jesus never asked any one to kill for him. In fact, God gave up his earthly life in suffering, to save us all from eternal death. So for those of you who choose to kill for God’s sake, be you Christian,Moslem or Jew, you must ask yourselves, “Is the true God so horrible and weak that he needs me to force people to worship him out of fear? Or is the true God so all powerful and loving, that people will come to him willingly in love, and even give up their earthly lives in return for that love?
Of course, there have been many men who have started religions throughout the ages. Men such as Confucius and Buddha, to name a few. But only one had his coming foretold in prophesy. That of course, was the coming of God to earth as Jesus. In fact, it was God himself on earth, who warned us of these “special men”. It was a very simple warning, indeed.
“I am the alpha and the omega, the beginning and the end. None shall come from God after me. Beware of false prophets. “
Now the Koran tells us that if you are not a Muslim, you are not person worthy of God. The Talmud also tells us that if you are not a Jew, you are not a person, either. In fact, I’m afraid even some “special men” in Christendom took it upon themselves to burn so called non-persons at the stake. So I’m afraid all religions have their dirty laundry. But the problem does not lie with God. The real problem lies with those who claim to be closer to God than us. For you see, those people missed the most important message of all. A message from God himself to all of us. It is a message so truly important that he came down to earth to deliver it personally.
“Love one another, as I have loved you.”
