It's very frustrating. A foot through my puter would help.
I'm still missing my chat room visits during the hours posted. It has something to do with proper programming. This from someone who used to install new parts into her computer. But all is NOT lost. I have a friend coming over tomorrow who can program anything. I have to be in there Saturday for my Virtual Book Signing. I promise, I'll see you then or put my foot through my nearly new Dell.
I've been missing my chat room visits during the hours posted. And I apologize. I should have hung an 'out of service' sign on the door or something.
No. I'm not trying to be cute. I'm trying not to come off sounding dumb. See. Writing a novel is not the same as formatting or dealing with a computer. One is easy; one is technical. So here's the story. I have a two-year-old Dell desktop, 120 gigs, you know, the whole bit. Everything they had to offer. So I spent two years installing and uninstalling various programs because, hey, I had mucho memory. Not. After a while it gets full, not to mention overloaded with the shells of programs past. It became such a mess it refused to work right. Like it was telling me, "Enough is enough." So it slowed down, developed glitches and otherwise did everything it could possibly think of to get even for my thoughtlessness. Drat.
While there are those of you who don't believe computers have a soul and a temper, you'd better not talk too loudly in front of your puter or you'll suffer the wrath if its revenge.
I totally wiped it clean last Sunday and reinstalled Windows XP along with all of my programs. But listen, did I say all? Couldn't get into my chat room Sunday or Monday. I cussed, I fumed. But Endora, my computer, refused to cooperate. Finally she let me know I hadn't installed the Jave Applet program necessary to make the thing work. So I installed it. Great. I managed to enter my own chat room. However, last night Endora rebelled again and did something to Java Applet so it wouldn't work.
See the viciousness here? I could get in during off hours, but not during prime time when my presence had been announced. She's playing with me. I took advantage for two years and she still hasn't forgotten. So my dumbness comes in the form of imagining inanimate objects don't have soul. Now I know better and Endora and I have a wonderful relationship. So long as I don't overdo the constant installing and uninstalling, messing up her registry, we're fine.
I labeled this article action/thriller because I'm sure there's a creepy novel here somewhere.
