Diane Thompson, a part-time nurse at the Dialysis Clinic in Spartanburg, has a message published in "Chicken Soup for the Recovering Soul: Daily Inspirations."
A native of Cherryville, N.C., Thompson and her husband, Steve, have been in Spartanburg for 10 years.
Thompson says she has been writing seriously for about two years and has work published in "The Thing in the Tub and Other Poems," a book of poetry for children. She also has published a children's book.
An active member of St. James United Methodist Church, Thompson says she and her husband are "putting together a Bible study on marriage."
Her "Chicken Soup" message (for March 15, the ides of March) encourages others to step off the sidelines and join the lives around them.
"Step forward and give life all you have to give," she writes.
