BRIDIE
My lady friend died today...
she was so proud and so gentle.
She came into our lifes 6yrs ago, thrown out of her last home and left to fend for herself on the streets. Alas she was put in to what she thought was her new home, but it was a place with no future except death. She was brought to me, as I'm a kind person who could give her a loving home. Within minutes she knew she was safe and happily looked around her new home, trying all the beds, a lady of some considerable taste, she knew which bed she wanted, of course it was mine. Her bathroom manners were fantastic too. We all fell in love with her, even our cat, which was totally unexpected. In a class of her own, a haughty, spoilt, pampered pussy, I feared she would not take kindly to our new lady friend, but to my surprise they kissed and all was well. Our new lady friend was loved as soon as she stepped into my home, a love she enjoyed for 6 years until today.
This is my dedication to Bridie
You were so gentle
you were so loving
you never cried
you hated loud noises
they frightned you
we gave you love to reassure you
your heart was kind
so was your mind
you snuggled up to me when I was sad
and gave me reasurring licks for which I was glad
My Bridie
My Dog
Even to the end you never cried
you had your last meal from my hand.
I knew then...
The vet was kind he loved you too,
we kissed goodbye with you in my arms,
you looked at me with your soft brown eyes
and kissed me goodbye.
I said 'I love you' as you died,
my tears were streaming
as your body became heavy.
It was a pleasure to have had you for such a short time,
you brought so much love, into my house given with such kindness and loyality.
I love you my Bridie.
My Dog.
