Guess I am in a writers slump. I wanted to write a poem for this special day but none would come to mind. I thought I'd share a few thoughts instead.
The freedom we enjoy in our country is often taken for granted. How often do we stop and really think about the price in human lives this has cost us.
If our forefathers hadn't fought, where would we be today? We certainly would not be enjoying life, liberty and the eternal pursuit of happiness.
All the things in our country are here because of those brave souls who gave their lives for us through the decades. We as Americans have been given the right to live freely ,speak our minds, write, read and choose a vocation. The list goes on and on.
As we celebrate Independance Day, I urge you to pause for a moment and give thanks for all we enjoy and have. My family will be having a traditional cook out and going to see the fireworks over the Peace River to night.
Our flag remains a symbol of freedom and equality as she flys gracefully over this great nation. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !

|Although it is no longer the 4th of July, I still wanted to add my voice of appreciation for your poignantly written article. America is a marvelous country (warts and all) because of its people. You are the personification of all that is good with our great nation.|
