By directing the attention towards the Real Source in us, we can tap into the intuitive power in us. That’s why it is said that a person who becomes perfect in yoga of the Self, finds this transcendental knowledge within himself in course of time. That’s why it is also said that this intuitive knowledge first flows in stillness and then we know it.

Intuition is the power or the faculty of directly being in touch with the knowledge or the information without any influence of rationale or logic. It is spontaneous silent prompting from within, completely free from any intrusion of thoughts or preconceived notions or inferences. Intuition is different from instinct. Instinct is a behavior that is mediated by reactions below the conscious level. Instinct is the basic visceral or emotional part of a person, having strong impact or immediate relevance to the current issues. Although instinct is not an intuition, it is somewhere in between the intuition and the BSMI (body, senses, mind and intellect). The point to understand here is that intuition is beyond all the instincts.

Inner guidance/Intuition is a direct flow or a dawning of spontaneous information within you. In silence, you will learn to make a note of what it is. That's why some people call it, "flowing and knowing". It comes from the Universal Energy that is all pure, all-powerful, all present and all knowing. The Indwelling Spirit in you, your Real you, is the connection between the Universal Energy and yourself. It is not based on the rationale, strengths or the weaknesses of the intellectual; it is beyond the scope of your lower nature of BSMI (Body, senses, mind and intellect). It is a direct experience of attunement with your higher nature. Everyone has this wonderful inherent capacity, but only a handful put a solid and tangible self-effort to cultivate it and use this intuitive guidance in his or her day-to-day life. Conversations with God are not reserved for only a few handful people. Every one has the potential to talk to one’s indwelling spirit/God on one-to-one basis.

It is quite clear that there is invisible sustaining energy present around us and within us all the time. This energy is available to help us: a) maintain what we have and is working for us, b) have what we don't have to make life a joyful experience and c) purge from us what is standing in the way of our overall well being to bring us closer to the inner divinity. These three aspects of knowing in stillness are deeply connected with soul-searching, self-discovery, self-knowledge and self-actualization or some other name you wish to associate with. Paying attention to it and directing its utilization in a wholesome way is all that it requires. Wouldn't it be great if we decide to tap it for our overall benefit and be on the top of our own worlds? We can do so by:

1) Accepting the Power of the Self/Spirit/Energy within and recognizing it being the same as the Supreme Self/Spirit/Energy that pervades everywhere at all the times.

2) Operating/co-creating/responding from that transcendental power/energy in day-to-day life. This transcendental power is beyond the intellectual capacities.

3) Letting go after having done the level best. Letting go is a freedom from an attachment to the results of the actions performed by the individual.

4) Enjoying the effortless flow of freedom, peace, love and joy. It is the spontaneous flow of inner splendors that accompanies with the performance of the above three aspects of life.

Through regular meditation, self-observation and intuitive guidance a person knows how he/she is doing in the above-mentioned areas. Through ongoing gradual practice one comes to establish oneself in the inner/universal energy and operate from that mode. It is only then that a person would treat this world with the spirit of joy and amusement. That's being on the top of the world. Some people may say they hear such statements all the time. They may even associate it with the New Age cliché "Just tune into the Universal energy and manifest whatever you want." Some people may say, "easier said than done." However, I want to say that it is real and it can be done. The doorway (or key) is meditation. Meditation will put you in greater contact with your soul or higher self, which will then (with practice) open your perceptions to the "energy soup" of which we are all a part. Also quite a few people who are practicing and sharing this understanding and experience with others have remarked that it has added a new dimension to them and their students. This is where the fun really begins. In fact, this is the new beginning and that is what intuition is all about.

A very interesting article. No less an authority than Segmund Freud has stated that intution is necessary for major decisions in life like finding your vocation. Even industrialists make decisions on intution rather than logic. A great write.
