Ask And You Will Receive…
“Until now you have not asked for anything in My name. Ask and you will receive and your joy will be complete.” John 16:24
Wanda was at her wits end. Her marriage was in trouble, her husband had a drug addiction, and her children were starving. Wanda feared her health was in danger from the turmoil. Though she believed in Jesus, she was losing hope.
As intercessors, we prayed on Wanda’s behalf, asking Jesus to intercede in her life. We then invited Wanda to present her requests to God. She did. She began by telling God about her situation, then she proceeded to tell Him what to do to fix the situation. It was at that point I became uneasy. Wanda was not asking for help, she was telling God what He should do to make her life better. I encouraged Wanda to ask, not tell. With some reluctance she asked, but it was a struggle. She asked God for help in feeding her starving children. She asked for her husband to be more caring towards them. She asked for her husband to break his ties with his interfering mother. She also asked to heal her marriage and restore her family.
After praying, Wanda admitted she had a problem with “asking” for help of any kind.
The following week, Wanda returned. She had a smile on her face and wanted to share something with us. She said two things happened when she returned home after our prayer session the previous week. Out of the blue, her husband gave her $100 to go grocery shopping. At the check-out counter, she was short $10. The woman behind her offered to pay, not just the $10, but for the entire grocery bill! Wanda was humbled by the unexpected kindness of the stranger. But, was she a stranger? God sends the right people at the right time.
Are you like Wanda? Then do what she did: pour out your heart to God. Look to Him. Ask Him to help you, but don’t give him instructions. Show Him how much you love and trust Him to guide and provide for you. Watch the miracles unfold!
Thank You, Almighty God, for Your amazing blessings and love.
