I don’t know if is because I celebrated my 50th birthday recently
or what but I’m beginning to understand the meaning of having a
senior moment.
I don’t know if is because I celebrated my 50th birthday recently or what but I’m beginning to understand the meaning of having a senior moment.
Lately my husband had been getting on my case about leaving around credit cards that were not used very much. You know, the kind that you get because if you
open an account that DAY at the store
you can save 10% all day long. So you get it for the savings and then get the
store credit card in the mail and
throw it on the desk somewhere because
you already have so much crammed in your
wallet you can barely close it.
My husband said if we were robbed, the
thief would have a field day. The cards
would be right out there in the open for any burglar to take. Hey, at least there
would be no need for ransacking the house and causing a huge mess to clean up!
One day I decided to finally do something about it. I took
all those cards and neatly placed a rubber band around them
and put them in a more secure place! Well, I really found a
secure place alright. I needed one of them that we rarely
use. Only problem is, for the life of me I cannot remember
where I stashed them! I am still looking for them to this day!
Ever have those times when you are looking for that pen that
you just had in your hand and you are searching under papers
at your desk and just cannot find it? Then you decide because
you are moving so fast you are getting out of breath, so you
take the pen out of your mouth so you can breath better?
Yeah, me too!
This also happens a little too often to me. I go on a
mission to the grocery just to get one thing I need for dinner.
I make a bee line to the aisle that I know has that spice
that I need, but right at the corner there is a special on
sugar. I might as well get that since I am almost out and
while I am at it, I think our eggs are getting old. I gather
a few more things and then decide that the basket I am carrying
is getting so heavy, I better just go check out. After I’m
home and putting my bag of groceries away, I realize that
I never DID buy that thing I went to the store for in the
first place!
I am too young for these things to be called Senior Moments,
now that folks are living well into their eighties and
nineties. I think I'll call them mid life hiccups for now.
