Getting your cover art: What a high!...

Getting published can be a long and frustrating process. Even after being offered a contract there are many high and low points. At times I've felt like a yoyo bouncing between walking on air and trudging through mud. Signing the contract has to be the highest of highs. Then you wait for your first edits. This can take months and after awhile the high wears off and you begin to feel a little down. You know this is going to happen—the book is going to be published, but it begins to feel less real somehow. You go on with your work on the next book…but the other one is never far from mind. Then there’s the day you receive your cover art. Celebration! Now there’s a high for you. There’s only one thing in this process that beats that high and that’s the day you hold the printed copy of your book in your hand.

I’ve been working on rewrites and editing for my next novel in order to get the manuscript ready for submission and trying to forget that I’m supposed to get my first edits from my editor for Black Rock: A Time For Love, this month. So I was shocked and thrilled when I received my cover art for the book.  The artist did a fabulous job and now I’m walking on air again, if only for a short time. J
