Here's a nice article that was printed in The Desert Sun, Palm Springs, California, about Pengey's Many Adventures and my charitable work
John Burns believes this might be the penguins' time.
There's the wildly popular film "March of the Penguins." The holidays gave us a Coke commercial where penguins party with polar bears. And later this year moviegoers can see "Happy Feet," the animated story of a tap-dancing emperor penguin.
Perhaps the hottest penguin of all is Toga, a 3-month-old jackass penguin stolen in December from Amazon World on the Isle of Wight in southern England. He has not yet been returned.
Seems like everybody is bonkers for these birds.
What gives?
"Penguins have always been popular, but the public didn't have anything to fixate on. There's never been a Mickey Penguin or Bugs Penguin," said author John Burns. "We've had teddy bears and all sorts of things in the past. Now we have Pengey Penguin.
"Why not penguins now?"
Burns, a Palm Springs Winter resident, is the author of "The Many Adventures of Pengey Penguin."
The novel details a young penguin's trek from Antarctica to New York City and the experiences and friendships he has along the way.
Burns' book was sent to an editor three days before the release of "March of the Penguins," a film that became the second-highest grossing theatrical documentary in history.
