What We anxiously await, for What?
The Iowa Caucuses will start the following week from this writing. News Commentators express it is a dead-heat between four Democratic candidates. The Nation, but most especially Iowa, becomes fair game for political advertisements through every medium of Press. All Candidates, including the one sitting in the Oval Office, want to convey a difference between themselves and their Opponents. Immense sums are spent to highlight these differences, but what is the reality of difference? All Candidates are funded by contributions from Supporters, or by their own personal fortunes, the later risking their own wealth. Federal Election law states there must be strict criteria used in collection of these funds, but only if the Candidates accept Federal matching funds. The Article will hopefully show how the manner of Campaign collections focuses the actual Debate.
The first element makes perfect sense: The Campaigns will not advocate any type of Tax increase, which will limit the collection of Campaign funds. Contributors will not provide for Candidates, who would suggest these contributions should be made more onerous in provision. Most contributions, in actual fact, are forwarded for the specific purpose of making such contributions less impacting, this accomplished through Campaign promise of lowered taxation. The Contributors expect their contributions to be an investment in a Program, where they receive much greater reward than the initial sum of contribution, they expecting a profit on the contribution.
Many readers of the above will say there are the massive numbers of small contributors, who make up the majority of contributions given to Candidates, but is this realistic? These small contributors all expected maintenance or expansion of Welfare transfer benefits, either previously given, or hoped for through election of their own personal choice. Both major and small contributions have the same end in elective activation, the expansion of personal gain. Readers should realize all political campaigns submit to selfish personal greed of some type.
The construct of the Campaigns becomes severely circumscribed by the above notation. No Candidate dare suggest an increase of taxation, at least one placed upon his own Supporters. He must advocate general lowered Taxes, or placement of higher rates of Tax upon the Supporters of his Opponents. Search for support by Candidates also insists on promise of Welfare provision to Supporters, whether in the form of transfer payments to the Poor, or Tax exemptions for the Rich. No Candidate can seriously suggest a real reduction in the expenditures of Government, through cancellation of current Government programs, or elimination of currently accepted tax evasion measures. All Candidates must advocate increased Government deficits, simply to get financial contributions for his campaign. They cannot advocate increased taxation, or lessened Government expenditures. Fiscal responsibility is not promoted in political campaigns!
The second element to be understood must be no political candidate can advocate true revolution, as such are never financed. Revolutions are produced by people who have been victimized and oppressed. They never make political contributions. Their means of support is shelter, food, provision of arms, and transport. The true Poor do not the capitalization to provide more. Political candidates only seek such support as provides cash outlays, which can fund their own sculpted desires. Political candidates are advocates of the Status already in place. They do not want to change the system, only draw personal profit from it.
Politics holds no key for those who want change. The short Sound-bite does not propel political thought, only political slogans. Change comes through expansion of political thought. Conformity and Status Quo comes from political slogans. Politicians never answer political tracts, simply ignoring those injurious, and giving lip-service to those conducive to their own political agenda. Political Scientists will never be efficient Politicians, and Politicians will never back real elements of change. Political campaigns will go on ad-infinitum, while Political beliefs will rise and fall. Welcome to the political process!
