Have you ever wondered what, besides the birth of Jesus makes Christmas so wonderful? It all started with a gift from God to us. The gift was the birth, life, death and resurrection of his only son. Isn’t it magnificent to accept such a wonderful gift? Let us go one step further. Isn’t it a wonderful feeling when we can give something with no expectation of anything in return?
I truly believe that this is one very real reason why Christmas morning brings back not hundreds but more like thousands of wonderful memories for us all. We all love to accept such gifts. The excitement of unwrapping those presents under the tree starts when we are almost too young to remember and keep on coming.
I still remember the first Christmas or birthday gift I ever gave to my mother. The look of gratitude in her eyes was more of a gift than I could have ever given to her. I remember the excited expressions on the face of my wife and/or my kids when I presented them with those Christmas, birthday or presents for other occasions.
The question still remains in my mind as to who was blessed more by any gift I ever gave them. It seems to me the greatest gift of all was the fact that I had someone to give to and that I was able to give. It does cause one to wonder if there truly is such a thing as being truly unselfish. I not only give. I receive.
I will thank God for now and for eternity because he first gave me life and then he gave me salvation which is built on forgiveness. He gave and that is why I have anything to give.
Praise God
God bless,
Lew
