The Scary Side of Critical Aclaim, Press interviews and being on Bestseller Lists.
It seems like forever (6mths) but I'm now receiving tremendous critical and press acclaim for my book, Vrolok. In the last four weeks I've been in over twenty national newspapers. All of which have done features on myself and my book. It's now started to get scary when I'm contacted by my agent and told to go for an interview with a paper or magazine. My favourite quotes from the papers have been,
"Nolene-Patricia Dougan is the New Anne Rice, Rice Fans will Love Dougan's work"
"Fang-tastic... a blood curdling tale to get your teeth into!"
"Historical Fiction at its Finest"
However I know that for all of the great articles that have been done at some stage I'm going to get someone who just doesn't like the book and I'll probably be in tears. I have to say I thought it would be getting published which was the difficult part now it's all the promotional work - however I'm passionate about my writing and know that it will all be worth it in the long run. My agent tells me that I'm on several bestseller lists but I'm not even going to think about that.
