In early 2009, I started talking with the homeless who make the streets, parks, and under bridges their home. Every since, I've been listening to their stories and whatever they want to share. Although it varies, the one most prevailing theme is how they feel ignored by most of society.
They say they've learnt to make the world their home and one individual pointed out that it is decorated with majestic stars at night and the illuminating sun of the day. Many acknowledge Jesus and say they make it because of His love. They appreciate the food and little money offered and are quick to wish God's blessing upon me. Many feel strongly that God's protection is what keeps them a live.
There are many different types of homeless people. Some have lost their houses and jobs and have fallen on tough times. There are services in the area to help such individuals. I focus on those who are not so 'rehabilitative', who have been on the streets for years and have deteroriated from poor health often related to alcoholism, drug abuse and mental illness. Such individuals are pretty much on their own . .

I have documented endless stories and have taken many individual photo shoots.. I feel priviledged to have spent time with them. I hope to use this link to share their individual stories. Although they live in public and therefore any photo is legal, I desire to respect their privacy and will share only the stories and photos I have been given permission to share.
(Future stories coming . . . )
