Work Place Humor on the Web
By Cornelia Amiri

With out-sourcing, lower pay, and a weak economy the working class
need a few good laughs. Here are six sties on job related humor
including some silly dragons and an IT rep who installs love.

1. The Humor of Melvin Durai
Three stars for tongue and cheek humor on a customer's view of
outsourcing call centers. With insightful humor such as "willing to
work for peanuts. Even better, they're willing to work for rupees."

2. Madeline Begun Kane, Humor Columnist
Three stars for a well formatted site with Madeline Kane's perky
photo on the right hand side and a scroll down menu on the left.
Working Stiffed, and Workplace Squeeze are two of my favorite, I can
relate all to well. AWOL Jobs is timely poem of political humor
about outsourcing and projected employment numbers.

3. Fry's Electronics Employment Application
Four stars for a hilarious application for a customer service
representative. Complete with wry and witty questions like: "Are you
computer literate? Can you: Program your VCR? Use an ATM? Use a
remote channel changer? Flush a toilet without assistance? As well
as "Expected salary: $4.85/hr $5.00/hr $5.15/hr $6.00/hr* *Your
Masters is in____ ."

4. Office Memos Restroom use Policy
Four stars for a one page, outrageous office memo outlining the new "Restroom Trip Policy." "Established to provide a more consistent method of accounting for each employee's restroom time and ensuring equal treatment of all employees." It gives call center representatives a chance to laugh instead of cry.

5. Burger Drac's
Four stars for a look at Customer Service at a dragon owned hamburger
joint. Underneath the Burger Drac logo is a menu of cartoons
illustrating a Dragon's take on "The Customer is Always Right", "No
Smoking", "Service with a Smile", and "Friendly Service."

6. Installing Love
Four stars for darling dialogue between a user and help desk
technician on how to install love. "The first step is to open your
HEART. Have you located your HEART ma'am?"
