Most one-year-old boys are busy learning to walk, talk, eat, sleep and...well, you know what else they typically do. With Loren, days were consumed with trying to survive his first bone marrow transplant. Come along with Loren and listen as he starts his tale of tragedy, triumph and faith in his own one-year-old words.
"There’s no place to start like the beginning. " -me
Hi all you persons out there.
My name is Loren McClelland and this is a story 'bout me.
I hope you like it ‘cause I had to go thru a lot to write it for you.
When I say a lot, I mean a lot!
First, I had to go thru everything I’m gonna tell ya 'bout. That, in itself, was a lot, but then I had to do sum real work.
I had to make Daddy learn how to work a cuple of programs to keep everyone informed ’bout what was happenin’ while I was doin’ the Bone Marrow Transperson (BMT) thinggy I’m gonna tell ya ‘bout. That wouldn’t have been too bad, ‘cept he kept trying to tell me how to make the program work.
See, he thinks he knows a lot 'bout ‘puters, even more than me. Problem is, he hasn’t been around ‘puters all his life and I have. Sure, I’m only 19 months old, but I bet I know more 'bout ‘puters and machines than anyone.
Let’s see, I’ve been with machines since I was born. In one way or anuther, they have kept me alive or helped keep me healthy and I’ve got a ‘puter in my bedroom. I can say without lyin’ that I never broke a ‘puter in my life. Daddy can’t say that. He’s gud at breakin’ 'em.
But even the ‘puter thing wasn’t the worst problem. Ever try to tell a grownup how to spell? They may think babies smell bad after a really big poopy, but grownups spellin’ really stinks.
You will see later how bad Daddy spells. I finally had to make him promise to let me do the spellin’. That was like bein’ born all over again. Man, was that one big battle!
This whole thing has tawt me one thing, “Grownups are the hardest persons to work with!” If ya ever have a choice between workin’ with a kid and a grownup, stick with the kid. Kids make more cents than grownups.
Now that I told ya how hard this has been, let me tell ya a little bit ‘bout why I wrote this book.
First, it started out as my web page. I figured it was the best way to let people know what was goin’ on with me. Daddy is too lazy to make a bunch of phone calls everyday to tell everyone what is goin’ on, so I had to figure out a way to let people know what was happenin’. A friend of mine named Jenna had dun it using a web page, so I thawt I would do the same thing.
After everyone read it, they said I should put it into a book and maybe it would help other families and friends. So, I said “yes”, but only on the condishun that Daddy wrote 'zactly what I told him to write. He said “ok”, so here we are - My first baby book. It is set up pretty much like the web page, so if you ever lose the book, you can go to the web page to see what I said. I would appreciate you buying the book rather than printin’ out the web page, but I know sum peoples can’t afford to do both, so do what you can afford to do.
My main reason is still to help peoples.
Ok, that’s all the pluggin’ I’m gonna do. The next thing you read will be the beginning of my story. Have fun!!!!!!
