For 25 years Ernesto Fierro has written and attempted to publish his short stories and novels. To say he was excited when he finally received an acceptance letter last August for his manuscript, "Notes to a Song Out of Time," would be an understatement. "I was at work when I received an email from a publishing company saying they were interested in publishing my novel," said Ernie, a safety and security lead who has worked at Sybase for five years. "I could hardly contain myself. I almost jumped out of my skin." His novel, which was published in December, is now available to purchase from BarnesandNoble.com or Amazon.com and has garnered interest from many Sybase employees. On Wednesday, March 6, Sybase sponsored a book-signing event in the Fibonacci Café reading room in Dublin. More than 50 people attended Ernie's first-ever book signing to purchase signed copies and support the author. "The book signing was everything I wished for and more than I expected," said Ernie. "I'm so thankful to Sybase for all the support the employees have given me. Words are not enough to show my gratitude." The novel is a dramatic story about a man and woman whose relationship is torn apart when one becomes a gambling addict. For those who enjoy his first novel and would like to read more from the author, Ernie is already embarked on two more works – a children’s book and a western novel. "Whether or not I get published again I will continue to write," he said. "It's something I really enjoy, and the urge to write is inside of me. I have so many more stories to tell."
