Blogging is fun, when the blog has a purpose. My blogs each have a purpose, and most help others in some way.
Take this blog for instance. How to Live the Freelance Life tells about my experiences in building my own freelance career. Doing so is not easy, but it is well worth the effort. It is my hope that the information I place here is helpful to other freelance writers. Not only is freelancing focused on, but I also focus on other aspects of a freelancers’ life: Family, finances, money and more. I believe that doing so is essential.
Living the Low-Income Life was created to help low-income individuals and families. I live a very poor, frugal life most of the time, and this blog offers tips to others who live a similar lifestyle out of necessity, or by choice. My freelance career will take me out of the lower income level, but I will still strive to live a frugal life. http://livingthelowincomelife.wordpress.com
Frugal Recipes was created as a sister blog to Living the Low-Income Life. Frugal cooking is a natural part of low-income living, and I enjoy sharing my recipes. This blog is useful to those living frugally as well. http://frugalrecipes.wordpress.com
Mini Homestead in a Trailer Park is really just my way of finding out information. When I have questions about homesteading, which I hope to do more of in the future, I ask them on the blog. People have been very helpful and happy to answer questions. I also share what I learn. I will be prepared when I finally have my homestead. http://minihomesteadinatrailerpark.wordpress.com
Keeping the Single Mom Home is a sister blog to my Bangor Single Moms Examiner page, as well as the Single Mom blog that I head up. The purpose of these projects is obviously to support the single mom family. I have been a single mom for more than 20 years now, so I have some authority here. http://keepingthesinglemomhome.wordpress.com

Now that I have plugged the important blogs, I would like to explain how to plan for creating your own blog. Follow these simple steps to get started in the blogosphere:
1. Sit down some evening while watching television. Have a notebook and a pen on hand.
2. Think about a topic that you know a lot about.
3. Come up with a blog name to match the topic. Try to think of something simple or snappy.
4. Brainstorm pages. List them and an outline of what will be added to each. For instance, About Me: (1) Talk about yourself as you relate to the topic. (2) Minimally discuss your family if you want. (3) What the blog is about. (4) Add a photo of yourself.
5. Brainstorm categories for your blog. Write them in your notebook.
6. Brainstorm what types of links that you would like to provide. Make sure that they have something to do with your blog.
7. Make a list of 52 article titles that you will write if you post once a week. Make another list if you will post twice a week. And another list of 52 if you will post three times a week. You get the picture.
There you have it, your blog has been brainstormed.
Happy blogging!
