Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.
I've been thinking about writing a new novel. What do you think of this synopsis?
A couple of power hungry, war mongers manage to manipulate the electoral system of the United States of America. Together with a bunch of arrogant, incompetent hangers-on, they use fraud and the Supreme Court to gain access to the Executive Branch.
The story would follow the antics of this monstrous group through their destruction of citizen's civil liberties, the corruption of the constitution and the ultimate destruction of a system of checks and balances which has worked for over two centuries.
With the help of a one-party rule in the House and Senate, they manage to take the country into a unilateral invasion of another sovereign nation. While using terror and threats to frighten the people of the nation, the quagmire deepens until the military of the once great nation is depleted and nearing the end of its ability to function.
As the end of their second term looms near, an upstart from the other party rises in popularity. A young, charismatic black Senator suddenly threatens all they have managed to accomplish. This man begins to give hope to the poor, the minorities and the downtrodden who have come to know their place in the country.
Hope is the antibiotic which weakens and eventually kills the germ of hatred, fear and terror they have used to control the citizenry for nearly 8 years. It's like sunlight finding its way into a sewer. Something MUST be done! Hope MUST die!
The “Evil One” who has been pretending to be Vice President while controlling the puppet-dolt who was installed as “President,” concocts a remedy for the increasing hope of the masses. His plan all along was to use a segment of the “Patriot Act” to declare martial law and stop the election so the monsters could hang on to power. But as their popularity has steadily fallen it has become more and more evident that drastic measures would be necessary.
The “Evil One,” (Let's call him Rich) has closed down all avenues of oversight in the faltering Congress. Through never-before-imagined levels of secrecy, Dick has conspired to create a vast network of mercenaries who will do his bidding without question.
The plan is foolproof. The young upstart MUST be assassinated!
Imagine, if you will, the anarchy which would follow such an event. With their hope destroyed, the masses of poor, black and despondent citizens might riot. And that would be the perfect scenario for “Rich” and his cohorts. His mercenary army, (Let's call them Blue Water) could suppress the crowds and bring quiet to the terrified citizenry.
Of course the election of 2008 would have to be “postponed” indefinitely. The “Evil One” and his puppet-dolt could hold power until order was restored.
What do you think of my novel? Would it sell? Is there time to write it before it becomes non-fiction?

What sort of deviant America-hating mind comes up with scenarios like this? Of course it wouldn't sell, not with a depressing ending like that anyway. Perhaps you could publish it in a very short pamphlet form and distribute it in your local "free speech" zone.
Just please leave me and the rest of the Sane people alone, so we can pray for your soul in peace and quiet... free from worry. |

Surely such a thing would be unthinkable...democracy in the USA unsinkable... the poisoned waters of fundamentalist theocracy unthinkable... (can you hear the theme of Rocky Horror here?!)
I hear a musical coming on here, Chuck - an underground musical. May I contribute to the lyrics? I'm thinking of a theme that will surpass even 'The Producers'!
You've been around, my friend - you have my respect - yours is a voice to which a host of your fellow citizens should be listening. You are the authentic voice of free America. Keep it going my friend. |
