An excerpt:
At eighty years old, Jack Plese is still a vital member of society. Having long since retired from an impressive career with Anheuser-Busch, Jack is reaping the rewards of his golden years, enjoying a peaceful existence in Arizona, playing golf every chance he gets, and still managing to give his grandson, Jonathan, some stiff competition. He continues to share his stories, both on and off the golf course, and by recounting his part in American history with detailed precision, he honors not only himself, but the memories of those who served with him-those who weren’t as fortunate as he, and those who have since passed on.
Jack's account of the past is a legacy to his family and future generations. He is an icon, representative of what our country stands for, and the irreverence we refuse to accept. In light of the unfathomable events of September 11, 2001, we have been all too cruelly reminded of how vulnerable we have become and how precious freedom is. Our veteran's of all wars have fought to secure the freedoms we have innocuously taken for granted, and now more than ever, their efforts should not conclude in vain, but instead we must unite as a country, as citizens, to guarantee the rights our veteran's have so valiantly protected.
God, bless our nation, keep us strong and resourceful, skillful and forgiving, and above all, bless the souls of our armed forces who have, and continue to protect all, we as American's hold dear to OUR hearts.
