Keep Your Witness
Attention! Attention! Members of the Body of Christ, stay alert! You are under surveillance. You are being watched! By whom, you may ask. Everyone that you come in contact with. The world, the Believer, the elders, the youth, and especially those who are Unbelievers, constantly check your witness to see if you are really who you claim to be.
In Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus said that we are “the light of the world” and to “let your light shine before me, that they may see your good works, and glorify you Father which is in heaven.” As one begins to search deeply within, the question is “what does the world see in me?” It is important to remember that we are disciples who have disciplined and taught by the Word, carrying the name Christian (Acts 11:26). Do we even consider how and if we bring glory to our Father, who is in heaven? Is He a proud Father of His children? Is He bragging on your actions?
In order to keep your witness, one must constantly watch over, be faithful to preserve, maintain, and fulfill the fact that you serve as evidence and proof of the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the mercy seat for your sins. It was not the blood of a bull or a goat on the altar, but the blood of Jesus, in which there is so much power, that it has not even been tapped into. You have knowledge that your action, as well as lack thereof, is held to a higher standard. It is called accountability. We must respect the gift that God gave us, which is Jesus. Do not abuse or make of no effect the price of the blood that was shed for us.
Someone is watching to see if you have personal knowledge and a real relationship with Jesus. They are looking to see if it is “talk and show” with a masking effect. It is that person who is assigned to your account that you may be unaware of, who needs you to pray and intercede for them. They could have called their natural sister or brother, who may also be a Believer, but they saw something in you. Was it the light of Jesus? Was it the glory of God? We must continually seek the presence of God to be one with Him, so that His glory will be the evidence of our personal relationship with Him.
Do you express the living embodiment of Jesus Christ? Are you God’s instrument? God is a spirit and He created us to be an expression of His will in the earth. He does not have a physical body. In fact He has not had one since He was the Word manifested in the flesh, Jesus. The Creator of all creation is the potter and His hand is continually fashioning us (clay), to become His vehicle to embrace the world. “And the vessel that he made of clay was marred in the hand of the potter: so he made it again another vessel, as seemed good to the patter to make it.” (Jeremiah 18:4).
We are a work in progress, constantly under construction. The process will not be completed until Jesus returns. The church as we know it is in transition. The church as a building is losing its effectiveness. The church with power is without walls. It has become a moving entity. It has hands, feet, mouth ears, and eyes. It is the Body of Christ. The position has changed from sitting in the pew to walking the streets. We are to “go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.” (Luke 14:23). Signs and wonders follow those that believe. ( Mark 16:17-18). What is following you? We must yield our heart, mind, and will to the Holy Spirit to be available with less of us and more of Him illuminating His glory through us. Keep your witness outside the walls. Take a good look, not a peep. Check out the whole view of you. If you see anything after the examination, say “Lord Change Me!”
“For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord:
walk as children of light.”
(Ephesians 5:8).
