Riding In Worship
Worship gives the Believer the freedom and opportunity to rise above the natural circumstances and conditions that the enemy may be using as a distraction or hindrance. These external controls in the natural realm cannot stop the ascent of a true worshipper. Once that spiritual threshold is reached, all of the natural elements that are warring against you are overthrown by the reality and truth of the living God.
Recently I was sharing with another Believer that I was beginning to feel trapped like I was in a prison. The circumstances of life in the natural world will do that to you especially if you are in the transition process that comes through submitting to the Spirit for the renewal of your mind. As we know the renewing of your mind involves major change and disconnection the from the world system that we are accustomed to since it is the only thing that we have been exposed to until receiving the truth of the Word of God. Once our thought process is changed, the enemy wars against you through every avenue because he wants you to continue operating in his realm which presents to senses that there is no change occurring.
The word prison brings two people in the Bible to my mind because of what they did while what would appear to be captivity. The first is Joseph. We know the many aspects and details of his story. No matter where Joseph was in captivity from slavery in Potiphar’s house to running the prison, the Lord was with him. “And the Lord was with Joseph and he was a prosperous man. The Lord blesses the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake.” (Genesis 39: 2,5). Even in the presence of his enemies his head was anointed with the oil of heaven for his cup to overflow. The light of heaven shined on Joseph to the point that his captors were blessed by being near him and they knew that it was because of his relationship with his God. This was a unique thing to them because their enslavement did not stop the fact that everything he did prospered.
Sometimes the prison can be a place of testing. In Psalm 105:19, the scripture says that “the word of the Lord tried Joseph.” The word that Joseph carried was a word that went through the time for a generation before they were delivered. Do not think that during this time of testing that Joseph did not pour out his heart to the Lord. He was not distracted even when Potiphar’s wife attempted to use manipulation to satisfy her flesh. Was it really a test of his heart?
I am quite sure that Joseph took time to pray, praise, and worship. This is what kept him coming closer to know the Lord. As the evidence of the Lord’s glory continued to manifest in Joseph’s life, even his captors were in awe. It was his faith kept him looking ever toward the Lord and in his heart he knew that there was a set time to favor him, a day of the divine appointment.
Wrong focus tends to have us concentrating on the when, which leads to looking at the words of delay and denial. Prison can also be a place of birthing. Sometimes in being busy, God cannot impregnate us with the divine download from the throne room. We are not still long enough to spend quality time to get revelation. I am certainly guilty of this.
In the book of Acts, chapter 16, gives the account of Paul and Silas being imprisoned. Much focus has been on them praying and singing at midnight and the deliverance came suddenly through the earthquake. Even with opportunity to escape, Paul and Silas decide to remain in jail for the sake of others. The earthquake was the divine intervention for the deliverance of the jailer, his family, and the other prisoners. The purpose of the imprisonment of Paul and Silas was for the salvation of others as God demonstrated His supernatural power as an instrument to provide freedom.
The person that I was sharing with gave me something awesome to think about. I was told about a young girl in a particular ministry that had dedicated her life to worship for a certain time before going to college. The ministry had a prayer room set up for 24 hour prayer. This girl would spend time in prayer, praise, and worship through singing and dancing before the Lord from four to eight hours a day. I was told that you could see the glory of God all over her and you could feel the tangible anointing.
Can you even imagine spending that much time in His presence? Is the Body Christ ready to just have a worship service? Well they must be because shortly after this I received a call from a friend who used to the worship leader at a large ministry and there was a birthing to a new house in which services are primarily worship unless the Lord wants a word delivered. Wow! Believers who are keeping their eyes on the clock because the minister may be preaching too long may not submit their flesh to just saying holy, holy, holy or hallelujah, or any worship song for over two hours.
I always think about the Zadok priests in Ezekiel 44:13-18 who were the only ones allowed to minister to the Lord. .” The other priests in the Levite priesthood were fired from serving the Lord and reduced to servants of the sanctuary. “But the priests the Levites, the sons of Zadok, that kept the charge of my sanctuary when the children of Israel went astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord God: They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge.”
How is it that we minister to the Lord? Is it through our worship? One can only truly worship to the degree of revelation. Where you revelation stops is where your worship ends. Worship leads into continual intimate revelation. God inhales our worship and exhales His glory. I praise Him for what He has done through His mighty acts of power. But I worship Him because of who He is.
Is He waiting for me to arise? I must come up higher in the spirit. I am too low. You are always coming down to meet me. It is time that I come up. My desperation and the hunger are not enough. The thirst took me to the secret place of your presence. It is time that I ascend in worship to lay at your feet in the throne room. My worship will war in the heavens opening the way for me to enter into that prepared place that you have reserved to set me in.
“A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true genuine worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth reality; for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers." (John 4:23 AMP).“God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration." (John 4:24 MSG).
