How I find relief...

Like everything else in our world of opposites
We wouldn't appreciate wellness, if we didn't
know suffering.

However, that isn't the main reason Creator
allows us to suffer. I don't think He  causes it,
we do, by the choices we make, but He uses it
to show us Himself, and I believe, to bring us
into a relationship with Him.

People argue that fact with the premise that
innocent babies and children, do nothing wrong
yet they suffer. We forget to take into account
the heredity factor and somehing done in the past
that may still be in effect.

For example in my fathers family almost 90 percent
of deaths were heart related. My father died of a heart attack, and I have had 4 heart attacks. Who knows
how far back this goes. I don't blame my earth or heavenly father,  for this problem.

No one  knows where it originated. We can research extensively and not find the answer. For there is no
way to go back to the many undocumented family members who came before us. I won't go into the
other painful conditions that I have, such as lupus.

In the Bible here is what Peter 4:1 says
"Since Christ suffered, and underwent pain, you
must have the same attitude He did; you must be
ready to suffer too. For remember, when the body
suffers, sin loses its power."

Also Peter 4:12-13 says:
" Dear friends, don't be bewildered or surprised
when you go through the fiery trials ahead, for this
is no strange or unusual thing that is happening to
you. Instead be glad, for these trials will make you
partners with Christ in His suffering, and afterwards
you will have the wonderful joy of sharing His glory
in that coming day when it will be displayed."

The message also as Paul  said :Romans 8:17-18
"And if children, then also heirs of God,and joint heirs
with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, we may
also be glorified together."..."For I consider that the
sufferings of this present time, are not worthy to be
compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us"

Of course non-Christians will be offended by this
but they shouldn't be. This is the way  I believe as
a Christian. You have the right to your beliefs. If
your faith has a different reason for suffering, then
by all means accept it, but allow me to keep my faith
which is in Christ Jesus. If you get to heaven your
way, I'll see you there;-)

I used to rail with anger (which only makes suffering worse) Blaming everyone including the Lord. There
are  a plethora of books on the subject. I have
read my share, and because I suffer daily with pain
I have tried to understand it from the simple premise
of what suffering does to us.

If we don't learn how to overcome the best we
can it can make our lives and those around us a
living hell.

I believe  our relationship with Creator, and how
deep and intimate we have prayed and worked for
it to be, is the only answer. It wasn't until I learned
how to listen to Him, that I finally got a handle on
how to accept  suffering.

We listen by first establishing the fact that we truly
do believe ,and hope to please our Creator by living according to His plan.

The most important thing is to realize that we will
suffer ,how we do it is what we need to deal with.
I am not a stoic, but I am a realist. I know when
to make choices that will improve my attitude
and enable me to be more content.

My method is simple. It starts with prayer, for I
believe it is the most important way to achieve
whatever it is we seek. Prayer must also  be used
to praise and worship not just for needs and wants.

I also learned that staying busy is most important.
If you can't do anything physically, you can still
stay active mentally. (Of course some can't).

For those who are mentally capable there is no
excuse not to use your mind to improve your
condition. There are so many ways to do so, that
will help you get your mind off your suffering and
on to more useful things.

Writing is especially beneficial. Whether it is poetry, stories, keeping a journal, etc. It is addictive and can
keep your mind engaged and off the misery of the body.

The way you eat and exercise plays  a huge role in
how much you suffer. In many cases what we eat may
be the cause of the problem, and the body needs to
stay in motion if we are to be active. Even in a chair
or bed, there is much we can do to move the body.

Reading is one of the best ways to relieve stress.
Of course that is if the right books are chosen.
Sometimes we need our juices stirred by excitement.
Other times  pleasant inspirational books give us peace.

So these are some of the ways to live with suffering.
The most imprtant thing is our attitude and a desire
to live a more useful content life. By improving our
condition, we will be a much happier people for
our own enjoyment, and for all those who know us.

Eileen, I really take heart with what you write here.
I do believe that God showed his love for us in
the fact God gave us his only son to take our flesh and
bones to understand our suffering, our temptation.
Christ suffered on the cross just to show how great his love
for us all. I don't claim to be a biblical scholar, far from it.
But I have read the scriptures and think each and everyone
of us must have our own feelings and belief in God.
Thanks for making us all think. It's love that conquers all.

Eileen, This is an incredible write. You have covered so much truth, so much of the facets of life where suffering is your constant companion. I absolutely agree with you regarding the allowance of Suffering from our Creator. He does not cause this, but will allow it, if it is the way that we will give our all to him, and glorify him.
As he healed the blind man who had been blind from birth, all was done to the greater glory of GOD, and so everything that mankind suffers, though it is a result of our sinful condition, in HIS love, he will give us Bodies immortal and wonderful, in all things he will be Glorified.
He who suffered on the cross, knows all pain that mankind suffers. He was born into a world, where his half brothers mocked him, others mocked him, he was the Proverbial Half brother, so he knows that pain. He was tempted and tried with everything we are, and HE knows.
We must remember that though we suffer, HE suffered too, God the Father suffered too, when his children sinned in Eden.
The Godhead has suffered first!
For those of us whose suffering is hard and long, if we choose to fall into the arms of our creator, we lessen the load, as it is eased for us, enough to keep going. The one who caused all the Sin and suffering will be brought to Justice at the appointed time, where his suffering will begin for as long as the Creator appoints, Justice for all suffering will prevail, Praise be to God.
TY, it was a pleasure to read you again, must keep in touch.

Love in Christ always

Excellent article.
"The sins of the father will fall on the children to the fourth generation" explains this DNA factor in most our physical illnesses. So to blame God for our illnesses is unrealistic.

Hmmm ... true
As one who has been healed of nocturnal grande malle seizures, I would say to you Eileen that even in the suffereing you are going through God has plans for you. Yes there is history but even thou we know not the history He does and if we seek him to restore he is faithful to do so. I believe you are on the right way as is and have for you a word of encouragement. Hope that this blesses you.

Jeremiah 15:19
If you repent(even not knowing what the previous generations have done), I will RESTORE you that you may serve me;
If you utter words worthy (which you have), not worthless, words, you will be my spokesman. Let this people turn to you, but you must not turn to them.
Jeremiah 29:11-14
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord,"plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,"declares the Lord,"and will bring you back from captivity.

Just so you know, my mother has Lupus, has had several bouts with cancer and is getting better the more she is seeking God's will for her life. Obedience I have found from observation is a key to restoration.

Well done Eileen
