The names Coupe.
Jackie Coupe, what does it all mean?

What’s in a name?

I have searched the length and breadth of Google and poked about my local town library archives to find out if there is something in the construction of my name as a human that explains why I am the way that I am.

The first obvious thing to come up is cars.

Fiats. Hyundai’s. Honda’s.

I wasn’t surprised by that. What I was surprised by was this:

High Performance, High Clearance, Rowcrop Sprayers from Spra-Coupe

For nearly 40 years, Spra-Coupe has been producing high performance row crop sprayers. These versatile, durable machines have demonstrated a commitment to trouble-free performance and low-cost ownership that continues today with the 4000 and 7000 series high-clearance, self-propelled sprayers.

You heard it here first. A muck spreader!!! It’s hardly ever going to rival Suburu as a chav car of choice but there you have it. And oddly that seems quite fitting. I’m in the North-West of England. Crop country.

As I settled down to find something serious out about my name I was hit yet again with another absurdity.

The inventor & world leader in food processors.

For over 30 years Robot Coupe U.S.A. has been the foodservice industry leader in the development and refinement of commercial food processors and vegetable preparation units.

Yes. I am also heavily involved with the food slice and dice industry, I can relate to this I feel. Blenders have always held a morbid fascination for me. One day I have promised myself I will put my fingers inside one and switch it on. (Not until I’ve won a Pulitzer though when eccentricity will be worth something to me).

I was smiling then, it was going well. I was finding out a lot about my name and its uses if not its origins. I continued my quest. I was to find more in relation to cutting when to my amusement I found the Wiki official page on Coupe.

A coupé (from the French couper to cut) or coupe is a car body style with a close-coupled interior offering either two seats or 2+2 seating (space for two passengers up front and for two occasional passengers in the rear). Through the 1950s convertible models were sometimes called convertible coupés, but since the 1960s the term coupé has generally been applied exclusively to fixed-roof models.

(from the French couper to cut)

I believed this to be the closest piece of evidence I had come across that explains my bloodthirsty nature. I don’t belive I am of French descent. I am British born and bred, but to cut?

From there I proceeded to travel the information highways towards my goal. Everything I had hit so far spurring me on.

Something I had no idea about, Coupe magazine!

"The constantly metamorphosizing Coupe is a visual collision between the worlds of design, art, technology and culture. The Canadian Magazine Publishers Association says of Coupe, “The effect is startling – it’s like viewing a tape of your road trip, filmed out the window of a car going 50 mph, as you recall snippets of backseat philosophy and barstool prophecies”

Am I a philosopher. At times I know I can be. I like to ruminate on the worlds problems and push them about, trying to see the one small thing everyone else may have missed. It’s also been said of me that my penchant for ‘fast love’ will one day be my undoing. I like the image this portrays. I like to think my work leaves people punch-drunk. Like they’ve been repeatedly jabbed and don’t know how to respond. Further to this I found another magazine entitled Blue Coupe, I held out hope it would be a little hot and spicy but it turned out to be a blog page covering popular culture items like movies and music. Way cool though.

I know it may be a stretch. I challenge anyone else to find something more incredulous than this associated with their name -

The above website will show you to the official homepage of the ‘Coupe Mondiale’, loosely translated as the international club of accordionists, for anyone who may be interested or plays the accordion, knock yourself out. – Coupe de Boule, this is better watched than explained. You are allowed to grimace.

Rankings for COUPE:
United States ranked 22,367 out of 88,799

Is your name ranked? - find out there. I think I’ll leave it there for now. Your retinas may be bleeding or perhaps you feel the need to urinate – more to come soon.
