MARGE TINDAL - passed away on the evening of 26 January 2009. She had been quite ill for some time. Day by day, we felt this was coming. Still, it is an Ouch. Wonderful lady, great poet, sad ending, and Marge will be missed. Marge Tindal pursued her love of writing and was a successful author and poet who wrote and published "Out of the Whispering Winds". Marge Tindal has won worldwide recognition for her contributions to and moderation of several online poetry sites. She was also a member of the The National Museum of Women in the Arts. The service was held at The Lighthouse Church 1525 S. State Road 15A (also known in Deland as "the truck route") Deland, Florida. The service, held at the church on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at 1:00 p.m., was followed by a procession to the cemetary at Deland Memorial Gardens, 600 East Beresford Ave.
MARCIA MILLER-TWIFORD - has added a selection of our members book covers to illustrate the Our Book Store page. Different covers will be featured periodically. The page is limited in space so only five covers can be displayed at a time and those are selected by, believe it or not, her picking names out of a bowl. Be sure you notify her when you have a new publication. Also notify Ted so your new publication will be featured in the next Newsletter.
LIZ COSLINE - Live radio appearance on the Live Your Purpose Show on 20 January 2009. Liz had a life changing experience in 2001 when she almost died of a brain anuerysm. But instead this became all about living fully. She has written a trilogy about how going through the injury, healing, and coming out the other side was for her. She now has written her fourth book that talks about her views of the world possibilities and how they have changed. Liz has been in management for over 20 years and has devised motivational skills for employees and for management that allows all to succeed. She writes articles on this subject about motivating employees, respect of employees, and a host of other subjects. Liz believes that together humanity can accomplish and have anything. See Liz Cosline's Bio on Authors Den for details and her inspirational Web-site.
ALETA GRIMBALL - On January 3 our Aleta Grimball was wed to Greg O'Brien. Location: Wedding & Cermony ~ at her parents' home in Metairie, Louisiana. Theme: Winter colors of Blue and Silver and Fleur de Lis. From the wedding blog, a precious moment from Aleta: ”When it came time to exchange rings, my oopsy was to take Greg’s right hand instead of his left hand. (Greg told me on our honeymoon, 'I was thinking, she has the wrong hand. Maybe it’s different for the guy and the guy’s ring goes on the right hand?') Greg gave me a funny look right before I moved the ring onto his finger and he whispered, 'Wrong hand.' (He thought, 'I sure hope I’m right.') I laughed, whoops.. Then, Greg had to announce it loudly to the audience, 'She was putting the ring on the wrong hand!' Everyone laughed. We had two videographers at the wedding. I wonder if they caught me sticking my tongue out to the audience! Ah well, you have to laugh at yourself.” Congratulations to them both from everyone at The Writing Forum. From today on, Aleta's name on the site will be Aleta O'Brien.
TONI D. HELFRICK - Editing her book nearing completion, and another which is still in writing. Toni also intends to eventually have a show in her home town.
GEORG MATEOS & FELIX PERRY - These two members have cooked up a plan to help solve one of our current economic crunches. More and more members of Authors Den are facing a horrid decision: Whether to renew their premium membership, or buy food to eat. Working in conjunction with Authors Den staff (Matthew Miller), Georg and Felix have set up a PayPal merchant account which will accept donations (small or large) from more affluent Authors Den members, and these donations will be used to directly renew memberships of those in dire economic straights. If there was an award for Angels, our own Georg and Felix surely deserve it.
WENDY BARAL COOPER - Outward bound on 20 January 2009 from JFK to Beijing, China. Wendy traveled with her husband, Dayton, and this vacation served to celebrate Wendy's recent retirement from a 36-year career as a K-12 librarian/teacher with the New Jersey school system. Air China International operates a daily non-stop flight from New York (JFK) to Beijing, China (PEK) regularly scheduled to depart at 3:30pm and arrive at 6:00pm. Usually a Boeing 747-400 is flown for this route. The average travel time from New York, NY to Beijing, China is 13 hours and 30 minutes. In an email from Beijing, Wendy assured us that they do have Google but it is in Chinese. Great vacation, lots to learn, and bunches of notes for writing projects!
MSN GROUP MANAGERS - Microsoft will be closing down all MSN Groups on or after 17 February 2009. If you do have such an MSN Group, you might look at Lefora.com which seems to be offering a good FREE feature-package and they will do the work of moving your MSN Group pages and Message Boards to its own new dot-com domain.
