Many police abuse organizations are suddenly attempting to introduce legislation to double the prison time for any law enforcers convicted of a crime! In other words, if a state’s crime code states that a rapist should serve 15 years in prison, a cop should get 30 years. In a nutshell, double the time.
I’ve been contacted by a couple of organizations for support, and I agree with this law. Why? Well, as many of you know (to my regular readers, please forgive me if I sound redundant, but many are reading about my mission and articles for the first time) I’ve been up close and personal with unfair police tricks, tactics, and procedures, and I must admit, a rogue cop is the worst kind of criminal. Why? Well if you’re in the process of being robbed, raped, or assaulted, at least you know what you’re up against and have a chance, no matter how slight, to defend yourself. But if a cop commits a crime on you, you’re defenseless! Police officers are by nature trusted!
A cop or any law enforcer is the one person most citizens trust (that’s quickly changing though). Most cops are good and trust worthy stewards of the constitution, and believe in disserting fair justice. But like many professions, there are always a few bad apples. And to make matters worst, many police chiefs and supervisor automatically support their fellow cops when accused or arrested for a crime against a citizen, even if their guilty! This is fundamentally wrong and unfair!
What really yanks my chain is when an officer is arrested in many cases and gets demoted to desk duty. Desk duty! If you’re employed by a children’s nursery, and arrested for a sex crime against one of the children, you’re not even allowed on the premises again! Imagine your employers after this serious allegation placing you back in charge of children. There would be a quick and certain uproar from the parents, not to mention many parents not bringing their tots to that nursery again. And in addition, many of these rogue cops are still able to collect their normal paychecks (suspended with pay). When that cop is delegated to desk duty, he still has the power of arrest when he clocks out, and therefore can commit other crimes! All I’m saying is…what’s good for the goose….
The only way I could see desk duty is if an allegation (not an actual arrest) is made to the internal affairs department and they need time to investigate the complaint. Which brings me to another pet peeve? Why would any of you think that another police officer would be salivating to end another cop’s career? In many cases, internal affair police officers have worked with the officers they are now investigating in the districts and substations before being transferred to the internal affairs division! And in many cases, some officers may still attend social functions, family gatherings, picnics, etc, with internal affair officers. These are their friends and co-workers! This is precisely why I’ve been lobbying for only one entity to investigate potential rogue cops…citizen review committees. I’m not saying all internal affairs officers are crooked, but many just have a natural inclination to protect a friend!
Now, I’m repeatedly told my many in law enforcement that my articles hit hard! What do you mean hit hard? If you’re not a rogue cop, why get upset with me? I don’t write negatively against good cops, only the bad ones! I tell my family and friends often that I expect my death or demise to come at the hands of a rogue cop, or a corrupt set of circumstances by way of law enforcement! I'm not afraid though! My supporters, friends, most family and especially my children and grand chidren are proud of my turn around, but most of all I'm proud! Want to shut me up? Then quit brutalizing and abusing the citizens, quit planting drugs and illegal contraband on the innocent, and by all means quit raping our women! At that point I’ll shut up and spend more time with my grandchidren! Oh, I'm sorry, I'm hitting too hard!
