Give Your Résumé A Power Boost
In today’s competitive job market, a well-documented and impressive résumé is a key marketing tool that can showcase your knowledge, skills, and accomplishments and land you the ideal job.

In today’s competitive job market, a well-documented and impressive résumé is a key marketing tool that can showcase your knowledge, skills, and accomplishments and land you the ideal job. Whether you are actively seeking a job, or considering changing jobs in the future, every professional should know the importance of keeping a comprehensive and well-designed résumé primed at all times. Remember, your résumé is a reflection of you. Take a moment to review your résumé against your current professional state and determine if it needs a complete overhaul, some fine-tuning here and there, or simply a touch of creativity. Content coupled with focus will indubitably boost the power of your résumé. Consider the following power boosters to enhance or revamp your current résumé:
 Highlight your accomplishments: Your accomplishments will set you a part from your competitors. When describing your accomplishments, use succinct sentences. Remembering the expression “ICE” will ensure your descriptions are clear and concise:
a. Identify the accomplishment;
b. Convey the impact; and
c. Emphasize the skill or knowledge gained
 Tailor your résumé: Generic résumés are antiquated and have no place in the competitive job market. Mass marketing is no longer an option. Each résumé must be uniquely and appropriately targeted based on your career objective.
 Proofread your résumé: Grammatical errors and typos will ruin even the most impressive résumé. Have it critiqued and proofread by a professional editor or a colleague with excellent proofreading skills. The goal is to produce a polished and professional résumé.
 Use Action Words: When developing your résumé, focus on accomplishments that have measurable impact. Using action words and verbs will increase the power of your résumé and make potential employers take notice.
