Goldsboro News Argus features local mystery writer

(Dudley, North Carolina)

Dudley author's latest mystery novel title straight off the state map

Dudley resident, Susan Whitfield, has always loved a good mystery. She loves it so much that she writes mystery novels. The latest offering, Hell Swamp, is the third in The Logan Hunter Mystery series, set along the Black River in Pender County where she grew up. Whitfield says the book is about a crime scene at Black River Plantation, a mansion on the river. She grew up about four miles from there, has always loved it, and decided to use it as a setting for her newest book.

"Logan Hunter is about justice and finding the truth. She has enough humanness that people have fallen in love with her." Whitfield added that there's plenty of suspense and a little history about the river back when folks traveled by ferry and riverboat, before thay had bridges.

"I try to put some humor in my books, particularly if there's a real intense scene to lighten up, give a little relief to the reader." Whitfield's books can be purchased online or through your local bookstore.
