Young children should not watch much television, but be doing other actitivies.

Allowing your children to watch television should be limited per day because they should be spending their time doing other types of activities like playing, reading or doing an art activity. It is important for children to be actively participating in a variety of activities and socializing with peers. However, the time allowed for television viewing should be approved by the parent, guardian or care giver because you should know what your children watch. Television easily influences children.
