Ihe instant photo copy machine
I was in a drug store this morning buying some nessesary item. When I went to check out there was a lady at one of those do-it-yourself digital photo reproduction machines you now find everywhere.
The lady was waiting for her print and remarked to the cashier that the sign on the machine said "Reproductions in seocnds." It was cool in the store and the machine was taking a bit longer than usual to warm up.
What got me was the lady commented to the sales clerk, "This thing is awfully slow." The clerk explained that since she was the first to use it today it sometimes took a bit longer to do the first pictures of the day.
In a huff, the lady, who was at least sixty something said, "Well it should say minutes instead of seconds!"
When I heard this comment, I looked at the sales clerk and said, "Ya know, ten years ago that lady would have had to wait at least three days for an enlargment, and she is complaining about a few more seconds, Ya know what I mean?"
The clerk looked at me, smiled, and said, Yeah, I know."
How spoiled can we get?
Walt

I admire your patience, Walt. I have a hard time with ignorance and probably would have commented with a different line.
Someone once did some sort of study on how much time a 'normal' person waits for something (or in line) during a life time. How stupid is that?

Some are in a hurry to get faster to their final destination with a catchy name like Six-Feet-Under...

| I've met those little old ladies many times in my life. And some not old yet. Some people are just not ever satisfied. I remember when you had to take the negative to a store and wait days to get it back. Like it or not, not credit for bad reproductions. We've come a long way baby. Lady J |

It ia false avertising to promote ready in seconds and not follow through. These types of businesses count on the "Right Now Consumer" although they can't produce what they advertise. We are spoiled and the smart business owner cashes in on that too!

Yes it is a sad statement to have to make but you are so right and it applies to so many aspects of our lives. If we go to a restaurant and our meal isn't on the table faster than the speed of light we bitch, if we go through a drive thru for a coffee and they forget the suger or milk...we bitch, if we offer our prayers and they aren't answered right away...we say there is no God. Well written piece my friend.

Spot on truth: she could be in the military, where everyone hurries up and waits...and waits...and w a i t s......LOL
(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
one thing I've learned is patience. Ain't gonna make things go any faster (especially when dealing with the government and photo copier machines!). |

"Well it should say minutes instead of seconds!"
What a sad, selfish, 'me, me, me' and 'now, now, now' modern day species we have truly become! And I shudder to think what the young children of today will become with examples to follow like this one. |
