In "Goldfinger" Q explains the car ejector seat to Bond. That's a "plant". Later Bond ejects a villain from his car. That's a "pay off". This gives the movie expectation, excitement, surprise, entertainment, and continuity. These are the same ingredients that are needed for an enjoyable life. It's important to take action to "plant" and remember things in your life that might pay off wonderfully later. And when the "pay off" comes, celebrate it. Sometimes the pay offs are created by you. Sometimes they are surprises. Keep all your good experiences in your mind, so that when they pay off it's memorable. I saw the original movie "Bedazzled" with my college roommate. Years later, even though I live in Japan and hadn't seen him for a long time, I arranged to go to opening night of the new "Bedazzled" with him. On one hand, so what? No big deal. On the other hand, for me, it was a mind blower to be sitting there with him as the new film was shown. Bruce Willis said, "In my twenties, I just went from one experience to the next without paying attention. Now I want my twenties back." Don't miss those "plants" and "payoffs". They'll make your life.
