Life can be a challenge but it is through challenge that we grow.

“D'you call life a bad job? Never! We've had our ups and downs, we've had our struggles, we've always been poor, but it's been worth it, ay, worth it a hundred times I say when I look round at my children.”
W. Somerset Maugham (1874 - 1965), 'Of Human Bondage', 1915

Life is an interesting challenge at times. You know, you wake up in the morning expecting one thing and get another or you think someone will do one thing but they do another. Those events can create difficult times and cause you to reflect upon your purpose in life. Should I, could I, would I, all cross your mind and you begin to dissect the path you will continue to travel. You feel the pain of failure or disappointment and feel off balance even if for just a moment.

“Remember! Things in life will not always run smoothly. Sometimes we will be rising toward the heights - then all will seem to reverse itself and start downward. The great fact to remember is that the trend of civilization itself is forever upward, that a line drawn through the middle of the peaks and the valleys of the centuries always has an upward trend.”
Endicott Peabody (1857 - 1944)

I know there are times when I feel that all is lost and that the direction I’ve chosen for my life becomes hard and difficult. But as I look carefully at my own personal history and see continuity within it that amazes me and I then know that in spite of the difficulties life presents there is a reason for every bump I experience in the road.

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. “
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968), Strength to Love, 1963

It has been said that challenge forges a person’s nature and gives to each person who accepts the challenge an inner strength that could not otherwise have been obtained. It is important to remember that especially during the difficult times when your thoughts become more subdued. It is the challenge that propels your forward and actually gives you the needed strength to carry through. It is the lack of such challenges that makes one weak and causes so much worry and distress.

“Sometimes you gotta create what you want to be a part of.”
Geri Weitzman

As human beings we have the ability to create our world out of the pieces we see before us. We can squander our worth or use it to change our destiny. The choice is up to each of us to make. It is important during the difficult times in life to remember the strength of our destiny and the role we have to create that which we want to see. Each step, each building block in time gives us the roadmap to our future. It is best to collect each event in one’s life and make a mosaic out of the whole. Can you imagine how beautiful your mosaic could be?

“I find the great thing in this world is not so much where we stand, as in what direction we are moving -- we must sail sometimes with the wind and sometimes against it -- but we must sail, and not drift, nor lie at anchor.”
Oliver Wendell Holmes Jr. (1841 - 1935)

Each day gather another piece whether the wind is with you or not. Gather, sew, and form the life you most desire. Constantly move in the direction of your dreams and you will find the difficult times were the times in which you gathered the wind necessary to find your way to your created vision. Never forget to blow wind in your sails each and every day. Blow wind in the sails of everyone you meet and see the distance you will travel.

“Sometimes, if you stand on the bottom rail of a bridge and lean over to watch the river slipping slowly away beneath you, you will suddenly know everything there is to be known.”
Pooh's Little Instruction Book, inspired by A. A. Milne

It is every moment of your life that forms the river you travel. Whether the moments are easy or difficult they add together to form something beautiful – they form who you are.

“When nothing seems to help, I go and look at a stonecutter hammering away at his rock perhaps a hundred times without as much as a crack showing in it. Yet at the hundred and first blow it will split in two, and I know it was not that blow that did it, but all that had gone before.”
Jacob Riis

IT is said that " Sweet are the fruits of adversity"m difficult times enable us to put things in proper perspective. one also becomes more contemplative and understands things that we do not understand normally. It maybe a temporary setback for a long term proesperity- short term gain pain term gain
