Recommendations for Poetry reading
Several books of collected works are standouts in the poetry world. Among favorites are "Treasury of the Familiar," and "The Fireside Book of Humorous Poetry."
I am afraid that I must also admit that I find practically anything written in "Rubaiyat" style to be more than intriguing.
I never tire of some epic or sometimes historical poems; The Wreck of the Hespres, The Ballad of Reading Gaol, The Highwayman, The Ballad of East and West, just for a start. It seems a shame that interest in poetry reading seems to be waning; it can be not only delightful, but informative.
