My dear colleagues and reader friends,
I posted two simple questions: (see my poem dated Monday, April 06, 2009)
What Kind of a Nation are we?
Our President said:
"we are not a Christian nation"
Since when?
He also said "-- we do not consider ourselves a Christian nation or a Jewish nation or a Muslim nation..."
Answers to My Questions
My experience taught me what suffering and loosing 20 members of my family, not counting the wounded, means. Knowing wars, and having lived under various regimes, having traveled in many countries on every continent, I can remember the good, the bad, and the ugly. As a father and grandfather these experiences allow me to judge what is good and what is bad for the moment.
I am not following any religion but my faith is unshakable, not by any means? but by the power of love which fills me and nourishes me in every situation. I feel for everyone, regardless of religion. As a man who was not born in the USA, I wanted to know from my colleagues and friends what they understood?
I realized that my questions prompted various reactions and comments from various parts of the United States and from other parts of the world, which lead me to believe that we are far from being one nation under God as everyone says and that our leaders are far from having the wisdom of love. No one knows, when we will be a Nation United by the Power of Love, as everyone dreams. Let me hope and pray for all of us, that the power of love, which is not the physical power, but the real stream of power which can penetrate each and every one of us, give us Life within ourselves.

Jesus said, "In the world you will have tribulation, be of good cheer for I have overcome the world." Our own part of the world, the United States of America, was not excluded from the prophesy of Jesus Christ. Individuals are Christians--or not. Nations are composed of a mixture of those who believe the gospel of Jesus Christ and those who do not. The only change I can see, dear Emile, is that once upon a time those who belive in the God of the Bible made up a majority in this great nation of ours. And now...most people who do not claim an affiliation with a "differnt god," call themselves Christian without making the identification with Christ-- which is: take up our cross and follow after him. Without a cross there is no Christianity and those who do not follow Him follow someone else. Sadly, the insufficiency of spiritual and moral integrity in our country indicates that a growing number of Americans follow elsewhere.

Just because Obama said it doesn't make it true. We are a Christian nation; always have been. Furthermore, I don't care what Obama thinks but I do care about what he does. He is in a position of power. His statement of, "We live in the greatest nation on earth. Come with me while we change it." worries me to no end. His actions to date says he intends to change our great nation---for the bad!

Wise words Emile from a wise and loving man. Would that we all had the ability to love one another as brothers and sisters should do. Hugs from your neighbour to the north, Canada.

Once there was a slapstick film titled "A Mad Mad Mad world," well, guess what? there is no more a slapstick film, there is reality.
North Korea send intercontinental rockets up and tell the disapproving world to go screw themselves, Iran wants the Arab world to fall under its leadership (they are nor or have been Arabs! ! ! ) by atom bombing Israel. The crazies in Sudan are getting away with murdering 300.000 of Christians, a genocide to clean any Christian from a muslim land. In Burma, Pakistan, Afganistan...should I go on?
The world is Mad Mad Mad and our nation are opening our doors in the name of détente to those wanting to destroy us from within.
If you don't believe that...they have comfortable padded rooms.

Universal love does not mean loosing one's national identity - it does not have to be said as a "pleaser" phrase, a compromise to others, that "ok- I'm with you - we're the same" type of reasoning. America is America, it has an identity of its own and must not loose that identity
even in the face of multi-cultural citizenry.
