Who has the cure for satellite-mania?
The president of the federal republic of Nigeria is being infected with satellite-mania. Can anybody out there help with the right prescription for the cure of this maniac disease?

In 2003, less than four years ago, the current president of Nigeria and the ruling party engaged themselves in a ridiculous vision. They launched a satellite into space.
The citizens of Nigeria are yet to enjoy the benefits of such venture.

This year 2007 in this month of May, another satellite has been launched into space courtesy of Chinese contractors.

In about two years from now, around 2009, this same president and its ruling party have made plans to launch another satellite into space, making it the third in a series of satellite being sent into space by the Nigerian government. A whopping sum of several “millions of U.S dollars” and in “billions and trillions” of the Nigerian naira are being sent into the abyss with each fancy project.

Many people would say this is a laudable achievement. If you are outside Nigeria, I think you may be bias in your judgment on this. To be able to give a fair say to this, you need to pay a visit to Nigeria and see for yourself.

About 70% of the roads in Nigeria are all in bad shape.
Clean drinking water is a problem in the cities and
In the villages they make do with the dirty rivers and streams, in this modern day and age!
Electricity supply is epileptic. We barely have light for less than 4 hours daily.
That is, in a single day of about 24 hours, we use electricity for only 4 hours and the remaining 18 to 20 hours remaining, we are in total black-out.

If you run a private business, your overhead cost would strangle you out of business before you know it. Private firms and small businesses are pushing up the cost of their goods and services because of the cost of running generators with fuel, since they can not depend on the electrical corporations which is grossly inefficient in the nation.

Salaries are left unpaid for months. There are several cases of ex-service men/women who are retired from work. Some are in very difficult and terrible situations, suffering because of their unpaid salaries, overdue from the government. Some die after years of waiting in vain! Some go through hell and come out before they are paid their stipends and pea-nut arrears by the government of Nigeria.

Our youths out there are turning to internet and computer crimes and fraud as a way to survive and escape their difficult predicament.

Our educational institutions are in shambles and our schools are dilapidated. Our libraries are next to nothing!

Let alone my state and city, If I am to write about it, my state had been standing still for the past 8 years. From 1999 to 2007, it is like a whole city been in a trance! For the past 8 years I did not feel the presence of government in Edo state. What a wasteful government!

On the top of all these Mr President is going on a satellite launching spreeeeeeeeeeee.

Somebody help him! I think he has gotten satellite-mania.

Who has the cure for it, before he infests the next incoming president elect? If the incoming is already catching the symptoms, it wouldn’t be much of a surprise anyway. The party is known for such ..???
