Helping AzCATs help cats...
AzCATs has launched their annual SOS (Save Our Street Kittens) annual fundraising drive and request your assistance!
Phoenix, AZ – March 1, 2006 – AzCATs does more than just educate people on TNR (Trap, Neuter and Return) programs for feral cats: they are single-handedly responsible for assisting 7,161 homeless street cats in 2005. Between Mid-1999 and 2005, AzCATs sterilized over 28,546 street cats, nearly 12% of the estimated 350,000 homeless feral cats living on the streets of Maricopa County.
While this is only a small percentage of the overall goal, much more can be accomplished with the public’s assistance. “AzCATs works in close partnership with local veterinarians who provide low cost spay/neuter services. However, even through these partnerships the surgeries cost the organization, up to $35-$55 per cat,” says Melissa Newton, President and CEO of AzCATs. “In order to meet our 2006 annual goal of providing rescue assistance to over 7,800 homeless street cats, we must reach our goal of $30,000 in pledges by March 31st, 2006.” There are several levels of sponsorship:
