Whos been a disapointment so far and who is on the underrated radar

Baltimore Orioles Pitcher Eric Bedard

Despite being with a struggling and slumping Baltimore Orioles team that is 38-49 at mid break. Pitcher Eric Bedard has stepped up and played his best in a tough season so far boasting a 7-4 record leading Baltimore in wins and the Major League in strikeouts with 149 so far on the year.

Bedard entering his sixth season as a Oriole after being drafted in the 6th round in 1999 by Baltimore, since then Bedard has compiled a mediocre 34-33 record but looked good last year having his best year with a 15-11 record and 3.76 Era.
Now off to a solid 7-4 start, with 149 league leading strikeouts, and a 3.40 Era Bedard is on pace to put up career numbers in almost every category. Against the Texas Rangers on July 7th Bedard set a career high with 15 K's in a 2 hit Complete game shut out in a end route to a 3-0 Baltimore win. That's just a show of what Bedard is capable of he has played very solid over the past two months but just needs some offensive support.

I would have to say Bedard is the most underrated pitcher in the first half of the season and if he is ever out of Baltimore or they get a lot better I think he could become great.

San Francisco Giants Pitcher Barry Zito

After posting a 16-10 record , striking out 151 batters and posting a 3.83 Era in over 220 innings of work with Oakland the former Cy Young winner Barry Zito signed a 7 year contract worth over $100 million. Expecting Zito to be the ace and have a huge year Barry has done any thing but so far.

In the first half of the season Zito struggled badly giving up almost 5 runs a game and posting a 6-9 record in the first half of the season something that has not helped the Giants who are struggling at 38-48 at the break.

In six of Barry Zito's eighteen starts this season he has lasted five innings or less walking 52 batters while only striking out 66 so far on the year, Zito is 3rd on the team in wins with 6 but he has still been a huge

disappointment this season considering the success he had in Oakland and the money he was given in the off season. In Zito's most recent start he gave up five earned runs in 4 innings of work on the way to a 7-0 Giants loss.

If the Giants are to make a run at the playoffs Barry Zito must step up and play like he is being paid.
