each journey to success begins with a mind set proceeds in apprehension and ends in victory.

"Each journey starts with the first step and ends the same"

The world offers an array of possibilities for people. With each decision there is a path of direction. Which direction one goes is determined by the individuals perception of the event. While prior experiences dictate the ability of oneís capability to perform the task at hand, each individual has the inherent capacity to decipher and complete the problem. Each problem contains itsí own answer but variables contend with the direction of movement injecting the possibility of impeding the event.

This morning my wife told me of a co-worker and his wife who took their grandchildren for a trip to visit relatives in California. Without warning, the co-workerís wife had a heart attack and died, leaving him alone in an unfamiliar place with the grandchildren. My heart goes out too this family as their life has been turned upside down.

A few years ago my doctor and his family went on a vacation to Hawaii. He was setting on the beach reading a story to his son when he had a heart attack and died. His wife and childrenís plan for a peaceful vacation abruptly came to an end. Life has a way of dealing upsets and no one is exempt.

No matter how well prepared you may think you are, circumstance can change suddenly. The Lord grants you this moment in His time anything past now is formless. All of your dreams and aspirations can be a thing of the past. Do not put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Strive forward like death is at the door, and the end is in the next minute, because only God knows when the end will come. Be hard working and watchful for only you can make your life meaningful and pleasant in the eyes of God. You are the catalyst, the decision maker, and the last word. God wonít do it for you; itís your choice.

You may be asking why plan, why worry about where you are going. By the very act of planning the possibilities of failure are minimized. Sure anything can happen but in planning you have calculated the odds of success and narrowed the effect to itsí lowest dominator. A mindset of success is essential for success. God gave us the ability to seek, plan and do for His glory. You canít add to Godís magnificence nor can you attribute to His Majesty, you can only be pleasant in His sight. Thatís why He waits for you to make a decision. He wants to see what you will do!

The fact is, you must step off the curb to cross the street. Look at you. You are standing on the curb now. The traffic is horrendous, frightening, seemingly endless and there it is, a break, a chance, should you take it, or stay on the curb?

Thereís safely on the curb, you know because you are standing there and nothing bad has happened. How long can you stand there, contemplating, wishing, and desiring to be across the street? A few minutes, hours, days, years, a lifetime? The traffic will always be there and with each passing year, it will get worse. You stand there and with each passing day others join you as you stand on the curb? Look around at the fear, anxiety, sadness, itís all there, lost dreams, false hopes . . . countless lives left unfilled. Countless dreams drifting away, countless beliefs washed down the drain and you . . . you still stand and wait, will the traffic ever stop? No, it will always be there. It will always be the barrier between you and your dreams, your ambitions, your real lifeís experience. God wants you to be successful. He wants you to be a shinning example of His abundance. Yet, you still stand and wait for an easy solution . . . and God weeps in sadness. What happened to His crowing creation? Did the world overwhelm you replacing grandeur with fear? You were given dominion over the world yet, you shirk into a corner and hid your face from God. The tragedy is, you donít even know why you hide from God.

But wait, whatís really on the other side of the street? All of your aspirations are over there; a relationship with God, wealth, love, satisfaction, the true essence of life. Over there is who you are, the essence of your existence and God Himself. Yes, over there is truth, but you have not been able to see it, because of the traffic. You are consumed about the traffic, you worry about it, you fret about it, it makes you sick and frail and unable to function. You put it off always justifying your reasoning by making excuses, I canít, I donít know how, I might fail, I just canít take a chance and you dream of success but never step off the curb.

And there you are, rotting on the curb until one day you wake up old and unable to function, you have died inside and they come to pry you away from the spot you have rooted yourself to. They take you away because your possibilities of life have run out, and what did you accomplish? Nothing, you were too afraid to get off the curb. And God weeps for the life you might have had. He knows what was in store for you, but you wouldnít get off the curb.

Now is your chance to get off the curb and excel as God expects you to do. God provides for your success. He whispers songs of victory in your ear, He leads the weary and comforts the sick. No He wonít take away what you have done, but He will give you assurance that He is there, waiting for you to take the next step.

First you have to believe, in your self and your God given abilities. Second dream the insurmountable dream, and third commit your all to the dream. Find what you love most, and commit to it. Once you commit to stepping off the curb, then you have to go all the way. Be pleasing in the sight of God, be a crowning example of His best creation.

"Until you become committed, there is uncertainty, the chance to retreat -- regarding all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one basic truth, that is ignorance kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment you absolutely commit yourself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to assist you that would have never otherwise happened. A tide of events flows from the decision, improving your favor of all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which you would have not dreamed would have come your way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now."

The Yellow Brick Road

The yellow brick road may be paved with gold but there are a lot of pot holes and unknown intersections along the way. One wrong turn could sent you driving off in the wrong direction or over a cliff. If you are observant, you may find your way back to the yellow brick road in time to recover the time you lost. If not, you may never recover, and end up wondering around lost for the rest of your life. If the mistake is great enough, you may drive right over a cliff and into the hands of despair itself. The road is lined with take out stands, each biding for your interest. Each has a stake in your life, each represents an experience. Many will try to seduce you and lead you off in the wrong direction for their own names sake.

Rev. 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.

The merchants have gotten your attention and you now serve them well in all their splendor. God has become obscure, unimportant a figment of the imagination, something that creeps into your thoughts once in a while but never becomes part of you. You donít seek God anymore, your too busy with personal business and the need to possess the world. And Jesus waits to present you to the Father, unwearyingly, waiting, waiting, waiting for your return.

There are also many travelers Ė just like you, along the same road of life . . . seeking fulfillment and traversing the many pitfalls that are laid out before them also. You encounter them and hear of their dreams and surprisingly they are the same as yours.

Writers, philosophers, psychologists, economist, governments, and scientist have spent countless hours and given many explanations as to the reasons for the varied roads and directions that men and women take in life. They have tried, time and time again to analyze the factors that motivate or de-motivate each individual into their particular course. What is it that stimulates one person to successful action, while another person stagnates? Many of these same writers, distinguished more for their vocabularies than their depth of thought , say that it is fear of failure, pride of possession, love of home and family, and so on. In other words, it is self-entrapment that causes people to act in a passive manner. While emotion certainly has its' place and does indeed influence people, they represent only the surface of human traits. The mainspring of human behavior is found within the soul as people dig deeper into the truth to discover the root of each of their individual problems. Each problem answered becomes a stepping stone as they are layered one on the other to elevate toward victory. Each stepping stone is but a reality of truth in the assurance of what it can deliver. What are people but creatures of misgivings and long suffering? Elevating the mind in victory is an accomplishment spirit and soul. It is a connection with God that makes the victor a winner in life and thereafter. And what is victory anyway, but a partnership with Jesus Christ to accomplish that which is important enough pursue. Again, it is being pleasant in the sight of God.

The Yellow Brick Road is there, where it has always been, promising, faithful and true , a present of Christ for your faithfulness and good deeds. If only you trust in him he will provide for you.
