Sandra Lyman was in a coma for over five months. She stresses the fact that it is not only the person who is comatose that suffers. The entire family suffers.
I invite you to read the eye-opening book, Waking Up - Memoirs of a Coma Recoverer. Lyman was involved in a car accident at the age of fifteen. Her boyfriend was killed instantaeously. Her sister was thrown from the car and suffered alot of external injuries. She became comatose for five months. She was in a deep coma for approximately two months. Lyman was semi-comatose for over three months. During the latter part she experienced confusion, frustration and pain. After rehabilation, She was dismissed from the hospital. She became aware of a different problem, obstacles. She graduated high school with her class. Lyman learned to love herself again. She researched her book and was amazed tto discover she was able to mirror her thoughts and feelings of the day to the nurses' notes. She writes about her memories and the obstacles. She gives all glory to God.
