Leigh McRae is a divorcee with a young daughter. The 'ex' has remarried, but continues to be the bully he was when they were still married - it was his way or the highway - but no longer - Leigh is trying to pry out from his controlling ways.
Leigh is a talented horsewoman and has quite a good eye for details, as well as knowledge and care of horses.
Leigh discovers the body of her friend, Rita Cameron. Apparently she fell to her death from her hayloft during her morning chores. All arrows point to accidental death. But Leigh doesn't quite believe Rita's death was just an accident.
Leigh gets hold of some possible evidence and puts herself and her daughter in danger. Conflict surrounds Leigh - from her 'ex' who wants her to sell her horses, folks who have ulterior motives for letting Rita's death stay 'accidental'.
Although Leigh says she's not got any talent for investigation, she surely does a great job of it.
It will keep you reading until the last exciting page.
One looks forward to more adventures from Leigh and company - she is a talented sleuth as well as horsewoman!
