I poetry, you poetry, everywhere you see a poetic spill. Roses are red, violets are blue, I don’t know what to do about you… Ok, so that was lame. But that just goes to show you can write poetry about anything and anything can be put in words to form poetry.
Poetry is becoming so popular. I love poetry and I’m glad more and more people realize the smooth flow, the mind boggling way that the words just flow from your mouth as you read some of your favorite poets. Or maybe you’re a poet yourself.
Poetry is diverse, its urban, its classic, it’s American, its Spanish, it’s private, its emotional, it's real as a motha’....it’s whatever you want it to be and more.
Has anyone ever wondered what the history of Poetry is? Well, Poetry is Greek and means 'making' or 'creating'. Wikipedia says that, "Poetry was employed as a means of recording oral history, storytelling, genealogy and law. Poetry is often closely identified with pre-literate societies."
Ok, well whatever that means. But put in short-Poetry has a long history dating back to Aristole and will continue to have a long future as well.
That brings me to represent the newest anthology entitled, Step Up To The Mic: A Poetic Explosion. This book is featuring yours truly and some of the best poets, including some of HBO’s Def Poets. Interested in this anthology? Its release date is September 25, 2007. Edited by Michael J. Burt. Buy it on: www.xpressyourselfpublishing.org
