The true cost of success isn't just financial--it can be spiritual.
We’ve heard the clichés: “All that glitters ain’t gold”, “Money can’t buy happiness”, and “Money is the root of all evil”. So why do many people still continue to pursue the American Dream of wealth or the desire to “get rich quick”? While having an abundance of money can make some things easier in life, proceed with caution—the view at the top is not always as fabulous as it appears.
Many Christians have also ‘sought the Kingdom’ (or the American Dream) and have reaped the added blessings (Matthew 6:33), but then what? “Blessings” don’t come without responsibility. Luke 12:48 tells us that to ‘whom much is given, much is required’ of them. God blesses us not only for our own good, but for the good of others. As Christians, we have the responsibility to be good stewards over the things God gives us, which includes giving to others. It doesn’t always have to be money or material items that we give. Our time is also one of the most valuable things we can give to someone. In some circumstances, it’s appreciated more than money.
Lastly, remember that faith is such an important foundation to have when traveling along the rocky road of success. This is another reason why I was inspired to write “Blessings of Purpose”. However, the feedback I’ve been receiving from others is that the messages in the story have ministered to them in ways I didn’t intend. I soon realized that it was God’s intentions. So, if you haven’t read the novel, pick up a copy today and see what messages the Lord has for you.
