after several years an old friend called me up and this was his tale.......take care Dave

kinda hard to kick the ball
when you cant walk at all
so, i'll sit and stare
my friend, it's my cross to bare

reflected light off stainless steel
two dollar shades, conceal what I feel
yesterdays child, was full of grace
todays father legs are a waste

the stadium is full of patriots
somebody says, "this is as good as it gets"
a pat on my shoulder and a smile
nothing to do but, look up and smile

I've become accustomed to the signs
and the way my wheelchair shines
tho, I'd be a man if I weren't reliant
and the soccer ball weren't so damn defiant

kinda hard to kick the ball
when you no longer walk at all
so, I'll watch the game and stare
drinking and driving is my cross to bare

Well written, it's a pity this message fails to get through to the actual people that cause the problem.
