...I rate this a "MUST SEE" movie.

Lions For Lambs (Movie)

The Inspiration...the Poisoned Pablum...The Truth (my interpretation).

I just finished watching this movie and earnestly request that each of you rent the DVD and watch for yourselves.

It carries a timely message home to the viewer of what we U.S. citizens have experienced, and are experiencing right now.

All events of the movie occur in the same time-frame, but in the various locations of California, Washington D.C., and Afghanistan.

The Inspiration

A complex discussion between an idealistic Political Science Professor (Robert Redford) at a Californa university, and a talented student (Andrew Garfield) reveals the Lambs of the movie: Two former college students (Michael Pena and Derek
Luke) who wanted to make a difference with their lives, and for their country. They had enlisted in the Army, trained as Army Rangers and are stationed in Afghanistan. They are sent  on Special Ops mission to the mountainous areas of the Taliban.

The Poisoned Pablum

A righteous dish served by the Executive Branch of the U.S. Government, and spicely seasoned by an ambitious member of the Legislative Branch, a Senator (Tom Cruise).

He invites a renowned TV reporter (Meryl Streep) to an early morning meeting to "pitch" a new Middle East war strategy; but the experienced reporter recognizes the "new" as an old scheme used in the Nam war. She also recognizes that this meeting-interview can possibly increase her popularity as a
reporter.

The Truth

As all factors are taking place at the same time,  truths are revealed. Results of each of the events are life changing to the main characters of the film, and to the viewer as well. As tensions mount, each life, and the world, will be effected. You will learn as you watch this movie; can't give away more of the plot, but urge you to rent and watch.

Thank you for this informative review, Jackie. I shall look for it. To be honest, I had not heard of it so this is good. Love and blessings,

Robert Redford, anti-American socialist. Tom Cruise, agnostic? Somehow I find it difficult to imagine any truth could emerge from a joint venture with these players involved. My opinion. I agree with some of David McAdam's sentiments. JMW

I tried to watch it but gave up part way through. I found the characters predictably categorised e.g wise Democrats/insensitive Republicans, and the plot equally predictable - another tiresomely anti-war (Bush/Republican)Holywood indulgence.
When will Holywood stop behaving like a 'useful idiot'to our enemies and stop producing such wearisome drivel?

I've seen it, and I agree with you, Micke. Unfortunately, it bombed at the Box Office. Not many want to face our many grim realities these days.

Never saw lambs eating lions, but I am sure that the film is worth to see, just for the lion's chops.
