If you have caught on to my writing style by now, you are probably thinking this tip has nothing to do with fashion or Chicago. And…you are right. Well, sort of. It is about style, just not in regard to clothing. And it does have something to do with Chicago, but again, not in regard to clothing. The Chicago style I’m referring to is that which is found in the Chicago Manual of Style.
The Chicago Manual of Style is the manual that serves as the publishing industry’s standard for proper writing, grammar and so much more. After coming across several references to the use of CMS, I decided I would purchase my own copy. Although it was a couple of years ago, I got a great deal on a brand new 15th Edition of CMS on Ebay. You should be able to find it on Amazon as well.
CMS is an incredible resource to have on hand. Everything you ever wanted to know about writing, writing terms, publishing lingo and even what an author is responsible for is included in the Chicago Manual of Style. The topics covered in CMS seem endless. So for the serious self-publisher who wants to be in vogue, a copy of the Chicago Manual of Style is a must.
