Separate Kindred Spirits

Each one is concentrated, yet relaxed, as they focus on their individual purpose.
One paints to fill the canvas with oil and colors vividly portraying their perspective of sight.

Another uses his hands and various sizes and shapes of instruments to mold and shape nature’s element of sand into a sculpture reminiscent of castles and knights bold.

Others set their sails and nets to capture nature’s treasure, to cash them in upon the shore, for measures green and gold.

Round and round the larger boat rolls around the smaller vessel. Casting out its nets so wide, to bring in many people’s lunch and dinner that dwells beneath the tide.

Some walk briskly, while others saunter, and yet still others run and jaunter.
There are the kinds that do yoga or tai chi, while other recline and see what sights they see.

Man’s best friend abounds as well, while running ahead of their masters.
Some “bow-wows” skip, romp, and jump, and pull their masters faster,
while others leisurely tag along, diverting small disasters.

Joggers run, and surfers jog, away from freeway drivers who do the same.
Although the first enjoy it more, relaxing so much better;
the latter will do well just avoiding a dented fender.

Fathers and mothers bring their young children to teach them surfing skills;
others too young to drive a car, strap boards alongside their bikes.
The price they pay is pure enjoyment in the total experience.
It may just be the memory that carries them through,
later on in days when they return to school.

Still there are those that enjoy these shows of personal and remote pleasures,
who sit and observe, write and conserve, the essence of it all, as best they can,
while looking on, and trying to relate, the wondrous feeling of it all,
and the feelings that elate.
