WRITE WAYS TO WIN WRITING CONTESTS
If you did win a prize, was it a matter of luck or did the judge really like your work?
Maybe it was a mixture of both!
The problem is that you've not won a prize since, although you've entered lots of contests.
What are you doing wrong?
Maybe you're just entering the wrong contests?
For example, if you're sending your stories or poems to a judge who is only interested in "themes relating to sickness or death" (as one judge recently admitted), you're probably just throwing your money away!
So how do you find out what subjects interest the judge and what topics do not?
Simple! Just take a look at last year's prizewinning entries. They're usually posted on the contest's website.
Ah! But this year's judge is not the same!
Well, that usually makes no difference. Judges are appointed by the contest organizers. And in 99.9% of cases, the organizers do not vary from year to year.
