Life is not an easy journey. Life gifts us with sunny days and stormy times. How we react to the things that life sends our way and to the choices that we've made is what explains the difference between finding shelter or finding storms.
If you seek the shelter of storms it may be the way that you avoid the meeting of your actual needs and wants. Running for the shelter of storms sets us up to continually experience and re-experience the familiar pain that life calls us to remember, forgive, grieve, heal, and let go of.
Do you run for the shelter of storms? Do you thrive, perhaps unknowingly, from the turmoil of chaos? Are you afraid to know your true self? Are you feeling that you not deserve the best that you can find in this life?
What do you continue to try to hide in the shelter of storms that you so need to face and heal in your life, and in yourself? Do you feel too stressed out by the peace and joy that could be your shelter of love? Does it feel to risky and vulnerable to trust?
Finding the shelter of storms is the ability to hide in the pouring rain of brokenness and woundedness. It is pain and chaos. It is agony. It is your past continuing to intrude upon your here and now.
What each of us really needs is the shelter of self. The shelter of love. The shelter of peace and joy. The shelter of competence and the belief in self. The shelter of faith, courage, hope, dreams, and goals worked for.
You don't have to choose to run for the shelter of storms anymore. You really don't. Seeking the shelter of storms takes us back to our pasts. Seeking the shelter of storms pulls us emotionally back to places that we already know didn't work, didn't protect us and help us grow but rather sought to destroy and devastate the landscape of our souls and the very fabric of all that we are and continue to seek to be.
We are each called to authentic self in this life to be all that we can be, all that we were meant to be, and to live a purpose-filled and purpose-driven life.
There are always storms. Storms of self come and go but in your search for Grace, wisdom, peace, and all you need, there is no true shelter in the storms of life.
The storms of life come to teach us. They come to help us grow, reach and stretch. They come to challenge us to find more of who we are, more of what we are meant to be, and more of what our passions and purposes are.
It is through Loving-Kindness that we defeat the storms that have defeated us in the past and led us to run for the shelter of storms.
Hide no more in the shelter of lostness, brokenness or pain. Rise up. You deserve to be all you can be in health and in the spirit-filled wonder of your authentic self.
The storms of life are not meant to shelter us. They are meant to mentor us and direct us and motivate us to make the kind of change that will see each of us fulfill his/her own destiny.
