Interviewers are not wanting your full life history. When asked to introduce yourself, it is highly important to seize the moment. Let your audience know who you are, what you stand for, and what you do, and like they say Keep it short, precise, and simple.

I was sent a form for a networking event a while ago, where I was asked to introduce myself and what I do. Based on a quote by networking expert, Philip Kotler, some of the items on the form were: "I don't know who you are, I don't know what your company is, I don't know what your products are... in fact, I don't know anything about you". The form mentioned that each business will get three minutes to network.

Interviewers are not wanting your full life history. When asked to introduce yourself, it is highly important to seize the moment. Let your audience know who you are, what you stand for, and what you do, and like they say "Keep it short, precise, and simple". This IS your "five minutes of fame"!! HOWEVER, analysts say, when given three minutes, speak for two. Stop before you are stopped, as they say, quit while the ovation is loudest. BUT more importantly, like a close friend, Dayo, always says "develop your elevator pitch"!!! An elevator pitch is your "tell me about yourself" response that even your grandmother will understand in the time it will take you to go up an elevator.

It takes a carefully constructed simple composition and sentence structure to develop an elevator pitch. To deliver a perfect elevator pitch, though, you need several hours of practice, perhaps in front of your mirror.
